General Dynamic’s San Diego-based Convair Division will lead a seven-nation industrial consortium that hopes to develop an air-to-ground weapon that would be sold to members of NATO, the company said. Convair expects to manage development of the “modular standoff weapon” (MSOW) that would be built by companies in the U.S., West Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Canada and Spain. The seven companies expect to complete a memorandum of understanding later this month.
