University of Georgia football star Lars Tate has been charged with simple battery in connection with a reported brawl at an Athens, Ga., tavern last week, authorities said.
Tate, a 21-year-old senior running back, was taken to the Clarke County Jail Friday night and later released on $1,000 bond.
