A cornucopia of movie and pop memorabilia--including two suits worn by Ronald Reagan in the 1941 movie “King’s Row”--was auctioned off Saturday at Sotheby’s in New York. The Reagan suits fetched $2,640 (the buyer was the Calloway County Chamber of Commerce in Fulton, Mo.), while the Hard Rock Cafe in New York picked up Marilyn Monroe’s costume from “Bus Stop” for a mere $7,975. The Hard Rock also snapped up several bits of John Lennon memorabilia: the typewritten lyrics of the tune “Imagine” (for $7,700) and a Lennon poster, “Love and Peace” ($5,500). But an anonymous phone bidder ponied up the day’s biggest single amount--$19,250--for Lennon’s handwritten and doodle-laced lyrics for “Dear Prudence.”
