A Korean fishing vessel sank in 20-foot seas about 1,000 miles northwest of Midway Island, leaving 10 of its crewmen missing after the other 15 were rescued, a Coast Guard spokesman said. Mark Griggs said the Coast Guard does not know if those still missing in the Friday accident “are in life rafts, in the water or if they are being rescued.” Japan reported that “several vessels were searching,” he said. The Coast Guard did not send rescue ships because of the distance but was helping to coordinate the search, Griggs said.
