LONG BEACH — Many of California’s top-ranked junior golfers will participate in the Long Beach Junior Crosby Golf Tournament scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Aug. 20 at the Recreation Park Golf Course, 5000 E. Anaheim St. An estimated 175 youths will compete in two categories: 9-hole medal play for ages 11 and younger, and 18-hole medal play for ages 12 to 17. Winners in all categories will receive trophies.
The tournament, named for Tom Crosby, former chairman of the Golf Commission, has been a Long Beach tradition for more than 50 years. It is co-sponsored by the Long Beach Parks and Recreation Department and American Golf. The entry fee is $5 for ages 11 and younger, and $9 for ages 12 to 17. There is no charge for the viewing public.
