Folksy Dixie Manor in Beverly Hills
Remember that big, beautiful space in Beverly Hills that once housed the ill-fated DDL? You’d hardly recognize it today, chopped up as it’s been into three smaller spaces. The one that is currently occupied at 242 N. Beverly Drive houses Dixie Manor, (213) 858-7427, which has been done up in flocked wallpaper and a look that seems more Old West than Deep South.
But what really draws your attention are the waitresses, who serve you mint juleps and barbecued meats in costumes that are half Scarlett O’Hara, half Playboy bunny. The food is forgettable, but there is a singer at lunchtime and a live band on the weekends that give the place a folksy feeling.
