A Redlands woman was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving after a traffic accident that claimed the life of one of her passengers and critically injured a second, police said Sunday.
The driver, Shelly Wong, 21, was treated for minor injuries at San Clemente General Hospital, Police Sgt. Dave Raser said.
A passenger in Wong’s car, identified as Todd M. Stainbrook, 21, of Yucaipa, was fatally injured in the Saturday night crash, Raser said. Stainbrook was pronounced dead on arrival at Mission Community Hospital in Mission Viejo. Another passenger, Michelle Shore of Redlands was taken to the same hospital with critical injuries.
Shore was listed in fair condition Sunday.
The accident occurred at 9:08 p.m. Saturday as Wong was turning off Coast Highway onto Camino Capistrano, police said. Her car collided with a pickup driven by Val Sorentino, 32, of Santa Ana, Raser said. Sorentino was not injured.
Wong was booked on suspicion of felony drunk driving and released on her own recognizance, police said.
