Kris Kristofferson apologized Monday to an Albany, N.Y., Vietnam veterans group angered because a plaque given to him at a benefit concert last week was found in the trash after the show. “We screwed up. We left it behind,” Kristofferson said. “We didn’t know it wasn’t even on the bus until we heard about it on the news.” The singer-actor also professed ignorance about his five-figure fee for appearing at the benefit. Kristofferson proceeded to blame Albany promoters for low ticket sales, saying he would have helped sell the show instead of playing golf the day of the show if he’d only known sales were slow.
