HERMOSILLO, Mexico — Federal judiciary police stopped a gasoline truck belonging to the state-owned oil company Petroleos Mexicanos and found two tons of marijuana aboard, a federal agent said Thursday.
Police detained three individuals Wednesday near the U.S. border crossing of Nogales, Ariz., 140 miles north of Hermosillo, after finding 198 packages of the potent “sheep’s tail” variety of marijuana, agent Francisco Javier Moreno Pesqueira said.
He said the marijuana probably was on its way to the United States, where it would have a street value of $5 million. The date of the seizure was not released.
