That’s Entertainment, but It’s Sure Not Sport

Jim Murray’s concern over the lack of quality major league baseball and the quantity of cheap home runs is shared by many of us who appreciate the drama of pitchers’ battles. A similar problem exists in basketball where a 10-foot basket and 10-foot players (7-foot plus reach)makes a travesty of a once-great game filled with finesse and strategy. Both of these games are glorified vaudeville shows that belong in The Times’ Calendar section, not the sports page.
