Forty years of watching television seems to have rendered the American people brain dead. They don’t educate themselves; they don’t read; they don’t think. They sit in front of their television sets and respond to telegenic stimuli like Pavlov’s dog.
In the midst of the celebration of the 200th anniversary of their Constitution, a Marine officer describes his participation in egregious circumventions of constitutional law. Are the people appalled? Are they outraged? Indeed not! Rather, the young, handsome, charismatic Marine officer is embraced by them as a national hero.
