A single-engine airplane crashed in the ocean off Venice Beach, killing four people, including a Culver City man and woman. Lt. Randy Degregori of the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors said divers working in more than 100 feet of water recovered three bodies, but could not retrieve the remains of the fourth victim, a woman, who was wedged into the plane’s tail section. Coast Guard Petty Officer 1st Class Charles Embleton said authorities are still trying to determine the airplane’s point of departure and destination. He identified two of the victims as Norman and June Rubenstein of Culver City, but said identities of the other two were being withheld until families could be notified. Cause of the crash, he said, will be investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.
