Japan Approves a Supplementary Budget

The $13.9-billion supplementary budget was passed by Japan’s lower house. The extra money is designed to stimulate Japan’s economy and ease its trade friction with the United States and other allies. The budget is part of a $43-billion pump-priming package pledged by Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone at the Venice summit of Western industrialized nations in early June.
