“Along the Great Divide.” Warner. $19.95. Raoul Walsh was one of the great Hollywood professionals, a master of the bread-and-butter action genres, and, following “Pursued” and “Colorado Territory,” this was part of a terrific postwar trio of Walsh Westerns. Everyone in it is a bit bent or twisted; the line between heroism and villainy seems constantly smeared. Kirk Douglas is a neurotic marshal, Walter Brennan a jovially sadistic rustler, Virginia Mayo his hellcat daughter and Ray Teal a devious deputy--all chased through the desert by a murderous posse of vigilantes. “Cinema is action, action, action . . . but it must all be in the same direction!” Walsh was once quoted. This 1951 movie serves as a perfect illustration. Information: (818) 954-6000. *** 1/2
