Police Say Woman Abducted Twice in 8 Days; Stanton Man Arrested

Times Staff Writer

A 32-year-old Stanton man was arrested by Buena Park police Friday on suspicion of kidnaping a woman two times in eight days.

Police said Jessie Albert Menchaca was being held Friday at Orange County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail, Buena Park police spokesman Rich McMillen said.

The victim, Karen Sassar, 33, of Buena Park escaped both times uninjured, police said.

McMillen said the first incident occurred July 17, when Sassar was abducted as she left work for home. She escaped within a half hour, but the man kept her truck. The next day the truck was found at Sassar’s place of employment, which police did not identify, McMillen said.

On Friday at 2:50 a.m., Sassar was kidnaped a second time in front of her Buena Park home while she was sitting in her truck, police said.

She again fled her abductor when she was left alone in the bedroom of a Buena Park home belonging to a friend of the suspect, McMillen said.

At 8:20 a.m., police saw Menchaca pulling out of the parking lot of a Beach Boulevard motel. They arrested Menchaca, who police said was driving Sassar’s truck.
