Screaming at an umpire is a fan’s right, and it’s also legal, even for baseball owners, a New York court has ruled.
The Appellate Division of the state Supreme Court threw out a lawsuit in which a former American League umpire, Dallas Parks, contended New York Yankee owner George Steinbrenner had damaged his integrity as an umpire.
The court held that heckling an umpire is a “venerated American tradition.”
