Packers’ Cade Gets 2 Years, Is Fined $15,000 for Sexual Assault

Green Bay Packer defensive back Mossy Cade was sentenced to two years imprisonment and fined $15,000 on two counts of second-degree sexual assault, a sentence the prosecutor called “woefully inadequate.”
Cade, 25, will be eligible for parole in six months. The maximum penalty for each count is a $10,000 fine and 10 years in prison.
“That’s like fining you or me $15,” said Royce Finne, the prosecutor.
Cade was convicted of sexually assaulting a 44-year-old Texas woman--a relative by marriage--at his home in November, 1985.
Said a Packer spokesman: “We’re behind Mossy Cade today and when the opportunity comes to play pro football, he has a home with Packers. As to what is going to happen and how he fits that role, it’s all speculation and only time will tell.”
