MSI Data Corp., a Costa Mesa manufacturer of hand-held electronic inventory devices, reported fiscal 1988 first-quarter profits of $805,000, more than four times the $191,000 earned during the same period a year ago.
Sales increased 33% to $20.5 million during the three months ended June 27 from $15.4 million a year earlier.
MSI attributed its higher profits to increased product shipments and corporate cost cutting. It was the company’s fifth consecutive quarterly increase in earnings.
