Views on Growth

Regarding “Think Twice About Limiting Growth,” by Kim Kilkenny, counsel to the Construction Industry Federation (July 26).
As a resident of Mira Mesa and a member of the Community Planning Group, I agree with Mr. Kilkenny’s assessment about “the heart of the cry for growth restrictions.” Public facilities (schools, roads and parks) have failed to keep pace with new housing during the last five years.
His solution to require new development to guarantee provision of needed facilities concurrent with or in advance of the need is a good one. Hopefully Pardee, Fieldstone, Lusk, Genstar and Shapell corporations will embrace his views when presenting their development plans to the Mira Mesa Planning Group in the weeks ahead.
