Cityhood for Mission Viejo
Up until a few months ago I supported the status quo, which would leave the Saddleback area unincorporated. However, things changed over the last few months when a few citizens of Mission Viejo got an outside consultant to do a feasibility study on incorporation. At this point a few people outside Mission Viejo objected, called us elitists and self-centered, and even went so far as to threaten to annex us once they became a city.
I want to thank all these people--they got my dander up to attend the LocaL Agency Formation Commission meeting, and the more I heard and read the more I became convinced that cityhood for Mission Viejo is overdue.
The consultants tell us that there will be a $6.3-million differential between revenues and expenditures once we incorporate. There would be no financial risk.
With this in mind, I decided to give the Citizens for Incorporation my backing and full support by joining their ranks. Let’s fulfill the California Promise.
