Patrick Sullivan, general manager of the New England Patriots, said the gap has narrowed in negotiations with holdout Tony Eason and predicted the quarterback will re-sign soon.
Besides Eason, unsigned veterans who did not report for physicals Saturday morning were defensive end Ken Sims, placekicker Tony Franklin, wide receiver Derwin Williams and offensive lineman Bill Bain.
Bain, picked up by the Patriots for the last three games last season, has indicated he wants to return for a 13th National Football League season, Sullivan said.
