Boat Accidents Kill 33 in Bangladesh

DHAKA, Bangladesh — At least 33 people died when two boats ferrying flood victims to higher ground sank, increasing the death toll from nearly two weeks of flooding to 300, police said Wednesday.
Police said one boat capsized Tuesday in Bogra district, about 145 miles northwest of Dhaka, killing 23 of the 40 passengers who were being evacuated from inundated areas. Another 10 people died when a second boat capsized Tuesday in the Jamuna River near flood-stricken Manikgonj.
