Mumps Cases Increase, U.S. Researchers Warn

ATLANTA — Outbreaks of mumps, the once-common childhood disease, is on the increase and could spread to adults in the U.S. workplace, federal health researchers warn.
The national Centers for Disease Control said last week that more than 9,000 mumps cases were reported in the first six months of this year, four times more than the period in 1986 and even more than the reported total for all of last year.
