MIAMI — More than 70 law enforcement officers were called in to halt a five-hour uprising involving 100 illegal aliens at the Krome Avenue Detention Center, Immigration and Naturalization Service officials said Saturday.
The disturbance was started Friday night by four Jamaicans in one of the center’s residence halls, where illegal aliens are detained, authorities said.
A backup team of 16 Border Patrol officers, 10 officers from the INS district office and 10 Metro-Dade officers broke up the disturbance early Saturday, officials said.
