Ground-Breaking Plans Made for Shopping, Dining Complex

A Nov. 1 ground breaking is expected for The Falls, a $10-million, 70,000-square-foot, seven-building shopping and dining complex by Pacific Rim Group Inc. at the eastern gateway to Cathedral City.
The project, scheduled for a September, 1988, completion on a 7.2-acre site on Date Palm Drive just south of California 111, will feature waterfalls cascading down its Santa Rosa Mountain backdrop, according to Roy Osterhout, president of Newport Beach-based Pacific Rim Group. Architecture is by Vortex, Bermuda Dunes, with engineering by JMS Engineering, Palm Springs.
“Our company believes that with the completion of the nearby Ritz Carlton/Mirada Resort (in Rancho Mirage), the proximity to Mission Hills Country Club and the long-range plans for the upgrading of California 111 through Cathedral City, this area needs a year-round dining and shopping center that is value-oriented, yet upscale in environment and merchandise,” he added.
