At least six bodies and possibly the remains of a seventh were found in a bloody, trash-strewn north Philadelphia apartment abandoned by an evicted tenant who nailed the door shut three or four days ago, authorities said. The discovery occurred after the landlord complained about a stench from the third-floor apartment. Two of the bodies were of women and a third was that of a man. Authorities were unable to immediately determine the sex of the other bodies. Police also were not able to determine the cause of death and autopsies are planned.
