One Veteran Shoots Another as They Argue About Wars

CHICAGO — A meeting of an informal political discussion group became so heated that a World War II veteran shot a Korean War veteran in the chest in an argument over which war had greater significance, police said today.
The shooting started when the men were discussing the attack on Pearl Harbor, said Charles Bridges, manager of the apartment where the group met.
Michael Williams, 50, a Korean War veteran, was shot once in the chest. He was listed in critical condition today at the University of Chicago’s Bernard Mitchell Hospital.
James Wilson, 69, a World War II veteran, was charged with one count of aggravated battery, said Detective David Kutz. He was being held pending a preliminary hearing.
