Pasadena : Panels to Be Removed
The Pasadena City College Board of Trustees has unanimously agreed to remove two ornamental panels that cover sound chambers on either side of the stage in Sexson Auditorium because they would interfere with the sound of a theater organ now being installed.
The panels are considered fine examples of Art Deco grillwork and the Pasadena Cultural Heritage Commission said they were worth saving. Susanna Miele, board president, said an architectural study recommended removing the panels, which may later be mounted on the walls of the auditorium.
The Los Angeles Theater Organ Society is installing the organ, which was owned by the late Ross Reed of Pasadena and given to PCC.
