The La Mirada Redevelopment Agency has approved financing for a $3.5-million community activity center planned for a tract of park land off La Mirada Boulevard and behind City Hall.
By a 4-0 vote Tuesday, the agency authorized an $8-million bond issue that includes $3 million for the community center. The city is hoping to obtain a $500,000 state recreation grant to cover remaining costs.
The recreation building, the city’s first, will include a multipurpose gymnasium, a large meeting room and offices.
The rest of the bond money will be used to repay redevelopment loans and finance public improvements in the city’s southern industrial area.
