Oil futures prices fell as market participants held to the adage that no news from the Persian Gulf spells bad news for the oil market. Contracts for September delivery of West Texas Intermediate, the benchmark U.S. crude, fell 22 cents to close at $20.77 per 42-gallon barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Prices for refined oil products also declined.
