The Region : Romanian Circus Acrobats Get Asylum

Four Romanian acrobats who ran away from the circus to defect to the United States were granted political asylum. Brian Bennett, chief of staff for Rep. Robert K. Dornan (R-Garden Grove), said asylum was granted to Aurelia Petreschu, 31, Georgeta Serban, 27, Juliania Dumitrescu, 33, and her daughter, Brigitta, 13. The four traveled with the Barnum and Bailey & Ringling Bros. Circus, but fled the big top last week while the circus was at the Los Angeles Sports Arena.
