1,050 Pay Phones Checked After Bombs Are Put at 3

MACON, Ga. — Authorities said Thursday it was safe to use public telephones in Bibb County after an all-night search found no bombs like the three discovered earlier at pay phones. Police Chief Jim Brooks ordered the county’s 1,050 public phones checked after anonymous calls Wednesday led policemen to the bombs.
