Aliens Occupy Housing

Why is everybody so reluctant to even mention that most low-cost housing is absorbed by illegal aliens?
If the new immigration law is enforced properly, there should be plenty of low-cost housing available. And it would be proper, as aid for the homeless, for the state and city police to assist the Immigration and Naturalization Service in making that housing available.
