Moviegoers got a surprise over the weekend when they showed up for the reopening of the Century Plaza Cinemas in Century City only to find that three of the four theaters were closed. “We didn’t find out until (last) Friday at 5 p.m. that the theaters wouldn’t be ready because they needed more structural work,” said Cineplex Odeon spokeswoman Linda Friendly. Orion Pictures and others involved with the film “No Way Out” must be happy, though. According to Friendly, many people decided to see that film, possibly enticed by the movie’s good reviews (and free popcorn). Those who chose not to stay were given free passes and can return in a few days when, Friendly said, the three theaters are supposed to be completed.
