Interstate Electronics Wins Air Force Contract

Interstate Electronics Corp. of Anaheim has been awarded a $3-million contract from the Air Force Armament Division, Elgin Air Force Base, to develop a rocket-tracking device called a global positioning system frequency translator.
The equipment is to be used for tracking the Exoatmospheric Reentry-Vehicle Interceptor Subsystem--a component of the Administration’s so-called Star Wars defense program.
The contract calls for 44 units with deliveries starting in September, 1988, and has options for deliveries through December of 1990. An Interstate electronics official said the company expects to receive more orders under the options that would bring the total value of the contract to $5 million.
