Police officers and supervisors have agreed with the city on a two-year contract calling for a combined 13% increase in salaries and health and welfare benefits.
The 79 members of the South Gate Police Officers Assn. and eight members of the Police Management Assn. ratified the salary and benefit raises for fiscal 1987-88, which will cost the city $392,995. In the second year, fiscal 1988-89, the increases will cost $275,026.
The starting salary for a South Gate police officer was $25,800, but with the new agreement will be $27,100, said Gary Bacock, chief negotiating officer for the city.
