Litton won a contract for the preparatory work on repairs for guided missile frigate Stark. The 3,600-ton Stark was damaged during a missile attack in the Persian Gulf in May. The Beverly Hills-based firm’s Ingalls shipbuilding division has started work on the $12.3-million Navy contract to prepare for repairs on the ship. Under terms of the contract, Litton will determine the extent of damage, plan the repairs and acquire the materials needed. A contract for the repair work will then be negotiated.
