Heavily favored Judge Angelucci led all the way for an easy four-length victory over Leading Hour in the $240,000 Longacres Mile, the Northwest’s richest horse race.
It was the 52nd running of the eight-furlong race at Renton, Wash.
The California invader, with Gary Baze aboard, crossed the wire in 1:34 1/5, just two-fifths of a second off the track and stakes record set by Always Gallant in 1979.
Judge Angelucci paid $2.60, the lowest $2 win payoff in the history of the Longacres Mile.
