Datapower Reports Loss of $786,000 for Quarter

Datapower Inc., a Costa Mesa manufacturer of computer power supplies, reported a $786,000 net loss in its fiscal first quarter ended June 30, compared with a loss of $582,000 in the year-earlier period. Revenues for the quarter fell 38% to $797,000, from $1.3 million a year earlier.
The most recent loss included a write-off of $100,000 in engineering inventory caused by a reduction in expected sales, said Michael McGlone, chief financial officer.
McGlone said the larger deficit reflects declining sales. He said the company is trying to implement a new marketing strategy to shift sales from customized to standardized products.
