Bomb in Beijing Square Brings Death Sentence

BEIJING — A court Wednesday sentenced to death a fireworks factory employee who set off a homemade bomb last month in Tian An Men Square in the heart of Beijing.
The New China News Agency said Deng Qilin, 24, was arrested by police and residents as he tried to escape after detonating the bomb, which damaged a sculpture and a building, at midnight July 17.
