Thrower Can’t Compete in Rome

Hammer thrower Bill Green of Torrance, who was stripped of his Pan American Games silver medal because of a positive drug test, will not be allowed to participate in the World Championships, which begin this weekend in Rome, his lawyer said today.
Gregory Raifman, Green’s attorney, told Associated Press that he was told late Thursday night by a spokesman for The Athletics Congress that Green will not be allowed to compete.
