Bicc PLC, a cable maker, and Lee International PLC, a film and television services group, said they have joined the growing list of British companies making acquisitions in the United States. Bicc said it will buy an 80% stake in U.S. power cable manufacturer Cablec Corp. for $96 million. Lee said it will buy Panavision Inc., a U.S. camera manufacturer, for $100 million. Analysts say many British companies fear their recent stock market boom might be drawing to a close. The time is ripe, they say, for moving out of the British pound and into an economy with better prospects and bigger market.
