Nomination of Judge Bork
Bork’s bizarre opinions hae been calculated to draw attention to himself. Among others, he has opposed U.S. Supreme Court decisions making unenforceable restrictive covenants or deeds on property and invalidating a state law making it a crime for a physician to dispense contraceptives to a married couple. He saw nothing in the Constitution to protect a person’s most intimate privacy.
In this day of vast differences in transportation and communication as compared to 200 years ago, Bork would cause a citizen’s civil rights, and the character of the citizen’s acts in a criminal sense, to vary depending on whether his airplane lands or his communication is delivered or published in one state or another.
I hope that our senators will rise mightily to the protection of the Constitution by doing all that they can to defeat Bork.
