A twin-engine plane belonging to a military flying club crashed near Monterey airport, killing three active-duty military personnel on board, authorities said. The Beechcraft Travelair crashed in a field about a mile east of the Monterey Peninsula Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration said. The victims, whose names are being withheld until relatives are notified, were two Army warrant officers and a sergeant from nearby Ft. Ord, said Cmdr. Allen Sherwood, spokesman for the Naval Post Graduate School.
