South Bay : School Board Post Filled
Herbert D. Bartelt was installed this week as a member of the Centinela Valley Union High School District, replacing Terry Wood, who resigned in July. He was chosen by the board from among four candidates who sought to fill the remaining two years of Wood’s term as the district’s Area 2 trustee.
Bartelt, 72, a retired business executive, already has considerable experience in school affairs. He served on the Centinela Valley board from 1960 to 1972, and before that he was a Lennox School District trustee for 12 years.
In another personnel change in the Centinela Valley district, Jack D. Weber resigned as principal of Hawthorne High School after 18 months in the post to head Cypress High School in Anaheim. Bernard J. McGuire, assistant superintendent for business services, will be Hawthorne’s acting principal.
