Some of the longest streaks in both the City and Southern Sections are in the Southeast/Long Beach area. Here are some of the most notable ones:
CONSECUTIVE VICTORIES Bell Gardens--The Lancers, 10-1 last year, put a 13-game regular season winning streak on the line in their opener against Hacienda Heights Wilson.
Valley Christian--The Crusaders have won 12 consecutive Olympic League games. Their last league loss was to Ontario Christian, 25-7, in 1984.
LOSSES
Santa Fe--The Chiefs hold the longest losing streak in the Southern Section. They have lost their last 19 games--the state’s third worst losing streak.
Centennial--The Apaches have lost 15 straight games. They have not had a winning season since 1972.
Compton--The Tarbabes will enter Moore League play in October after going winless in league play last year. Compton has won just two of its last 15 league games.
Cerritos--The Dons have never beaten San Gabriel Valley League foe Lynwood----a string of 11 consecutive games.
TITLES
Artesia--Third-year Coach Vince La Rosa has guided the Pioneers to at least a piece of the Suburban League title in each of his first two years.
Poly--The Long Beach school has won the Moore League title each of the last 7 years.
