Vice President Hamdija Pozderac of Yugoslavia, who was to become president in May, submitted his resignation in the midst of a major financial scandal, the official Tanjug news agency said. Pozderac, 63, said he made the decision “after a comprehensive consideration of all the elements of the political situation which was created with the Agrokomerc affair,” Tanjug reported. Agrokomerc is an agro-industrial company that had issued as much as $800 million in worthless promissory notes. Pozderac is one of eight members of the state presidency, who take turns serving as president of Yugoslavia for 12-month periods.
