DUNCAN, Canada — The Kings squandered 3-0 and 5-4 leads and lost to the Vancouver Canucks, 6-5, in overtime Friday night in their exhibition opener at the Cowichan Community Center, the Canucks’ training camp base.
Dave Bruce scored the game-winner at 3:41 of the overtime period, taking the puck from King defenseman Ken Hammond in the left circle and sliding a shot past goalie Bob Janecyk into the lower right corner of the net.
The Kings played without several veterans, including two of their top three scorers from last season, Luc Robitaille and Jimmy Carson.
