A recount Friday of ballots cast in the Sept. 22 special election in Del Mar confirmed that a proposal to build a hotel in the tiny downtown was narrowly rejected by voters.
The recount, done by hand, showed that the measure to allow a private developer to build a three-story, 125-unit hotel at Camino Del Mar and 15th Street lost by 15 votes.
Pro-hotel forces had asked for the recount and must pay the $675 it cost.
