Reagan Declares Oct. 11 to Be Gen. Pulaski Day

WASHINGTON — President Reagan on Friday proclaimed Oct. 11 as Gen. Pulaski Memorial Day, saying that the Revolutionary War hero’s ideals of freedom and self-government continue to inspire America and the rest of the world. Count Casimir Pulaski, a Polish exile, was killed when leading a charge in the siege of Savannah on Oct. 11, 1779.
